I spent about $80 on music last night... And that did not include the Discordance Axis/Plutocracy split 7" I saw going for $17...

A bunch of small purchases today...writing down my first impressions as I listen.
Magrudergrind/Godstomper split 7" - First of all, this thing came with an awesome poster, so that's a bonus. The Magrudergrind side was speedy yet groovy(what I like about this band) and while the songs didn't seem like jokes like the other stuff I'd heard from them, it was still solid. Godstomper sounded similar but they had a bassist instead of a guitarist. Vocals reminded me more of Infest. Would have thought it better, but their side couldn't have even been two minutes long. What the hell.
Soul Swallower 7" - I took a chance on a Scoots recommendation and I have to say I really like this. There's obviously Infest/Crossed Out influence(sounds more like old PV than new) but even sounds a bit like doom metal in the mix, so they're not just going fast all the time.
Vitamin X - Rip It Out 7" - Sounds more like Bad Trip than Down the Drain in terms of tightness and general sound(in terms of the riffs sounding more like rock riffs than just a thrash attack). The songs seem shorter than average material. Still the same good old Vitamin X though. The vocals sound pretty reverby in this recording.
Melt Banana 666 6" - Never in my life have I heard a hardcore/grind band that sounded so danceable. Lots of unusual feedback and odd yelps coming from the vocalist(as always). Obviously it's short...it's a 6" that plays at 45 rpm. One song on the first side, two on the back. My other 6" plays at 33 speed and has only like, 6 minutes of material between it.

That Magrudergrind is easily the greatest thing I've heard in 2006. Haw haw.
But it fucking owns. Holy shit, all good purchases today. I'm a happy guy.
