I haven't given Metallica much attention past Load, but last night I finally heard a song from St. Anger in it's entirety last night. Mid-paced boring drivel, with the only good thing of post-Puppets Metallica, the guitar solo's, being entirely absent.
I've heard from everybody that St. Anger was pretty bad, but I had no idea just how bad it really was.
Now it could have just been the worst song on the album and that the rest blow it out of the water...I can't really judge an album based on one song. I'm afraid I may be forced to buy this, much like slowing down when I drive by a fatal car accident.

Back a couple years ago when I was hardcore Metallica, I'll admit to enjoying it. Now when I listen to it to try to find the thrash segments, it really is a chore. Why the hell are they trying all these new topics, like a round table lyric writing session? They never should have taken the pen away from Hetfield, this is the man who wrote Blackened and Fade To Black. Supposedly their new album should come out in some months (5-6 maybe?) and I'm really scared about it.
Invisible Kid is the worst Metallica song ever, followed by My World.

All the songs on that album are boring, shitty and all sound the same. I would not buy the thing if I were you.
Once you have heard one song from that album you know what the whole record sounds like. The only song that I can sit through on the whole cd is the title track and even that's sad.

'ST ANGER' IS WHAT METAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE. IF YOU CANNOT APPRECIATE THAT TYPE OF HEAVINESS I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.

Metal is suppose to be downtuned guitars with tincan drumming with a man half screaming horrible lyrics?
Or maybe it's just me.

Bands who rely on heaviness as their main selling point to their sound, which takes no talent, just the right equipment, pretty much suck ass.

Horario, I don't know if you're just associating that album with some good days gone by or what, but I've found it to be completely devoid of creativity and imagination, simply relying in straight forward chugging Metallica-flavored heaviness. Based on what I've heard last night and in the meantime, it's musically deficient garbage. A shell rattling around with a few tiny idea's, but mostly undrinkable sea water.

For the record, I never liked Metallica, so saying something like "I turned on this band" doesn't hold water.

I always thought metallica was a bit overrated to begin with. I loved Kill 'em all, and ride the lightnings songs were great but, as a whole album it bores the hell out of me. Master of Puppets was good but, overrated (at least in my opinion) and anything after that gets crappier and crappier.
I call St.Anger "The thing that should not be."

I really liked Puppets, but for the most part I agree with you. ...And Justice For All was alright, but everything after that ranged from bad to awful.

I never liked Metallica either. Well, they had some great stuff pre-black album, but they were never really where it's at as a band. Bunch of pricks. Fired Dave Mustaine, who's better than all of them put together, then whined about Napster like a bunch of fucking junior high school girls going to the bathroom to cry. Then made a documentary about how they were neurotic fuckups and not Rock & Roll at all, all in a play at "artistic integrity." Like the goddamn Beatles. Fuck them. And St. Anger has the worst drum production in the history of the universe. Worse than Prince.

Your brilliant.
And i'm also tired of those F.A.S retards saying Lars Ulrich is the best drummer ever. That shit's a joke!

Anything related to drum production, I don't care about. You can have shitty recording and still be a good band.
What you can't have is chants of "MY LIFE STYLE DETERMINES MY DEATH STYLE!!!" and other such retarded shit.

haha yeah what a gay line.
Anyway the drumming on that album is a different type of crappy. I've heard lots of poorly produced albums and they are good (well lots of them I don't mean all of them) but, the drumming off that album sounds like an annoying tin can getting hit with chop sticks. It fucks all the songs up, which suck anyway.
