What would you say their best album is? I haven't heard a whole lot of their stuff.

My favorite is 1916, but I like them all with the exception of March Or Die.

best albums in my opinion are overkill, ace of spades, bomber, and iron fist. i've actually not heard 1916, but i can't imagine i'd be too into that concept. the newest album (inferno? i think) is actually really fuckin good too.
ps best band

If you liked Bastards, you'll like 1916.
Another Perfect Day was actually just a mediocre album. They got that Thin Lizzy guitarist on board for that one, and his guitarwork was just so brilliant that it contrasted with Motorhead's sound. Picture an old clunky V8 hotrod with 200,000 miles and a $10,000 set of rims. Another Perfect Day is the musical equivalent of that.

fuck I think it's about time I ordered one. let me check out universe.com
EDIT: OK now I've looked through their discography and now I'm set on ordering one of the two- Ace of Spades or overkill. Now I cannot confirm which one I should buy. Is one better to start off with than the other? Perhaps one is heavier than the other? Maybe I'll just play a little game called inny-minny-miney-moe...

overkill and ace of spades are almost equivalent imo. you might even just go with the comp, england (or is it made in england, i forget), which was like an early greatest hits package. either way you can't go wrong, all that shit is killer.

DON'T BELIEVE THIS. START WITH 'SACRIFICE', 'OVERNIGHT SENSATION', 'WE ARE MOTORHEAD' AND 'INFERNO'. THEY'RE BETTER THAN ANY FAST EDDIE STUFF. I ALSO LIKE HOW SHEVY BELIEVED JON LORD REALLY GUESTED ON 'SNAKEBITE LOVE'.

I used to have a bullet belt like Fast Eddie to wear on stage. I want one again. Maybe I can get the guy at the head shop to gimme one for free if I fix their truck.
Speaking of Fast Eddie, Fastway rocked.
This is one of those bands that made a few mediocre albums - I agree with Shevy that APD was too good to be good - but never sacrificed their legitimacy. So why the fuck is Lemmy a columnist for Jane magazine now?

Aren't they touring with Motley Crue over there? That should be a pretty decent show.

favorite songs?
ace of spades is one of THE BEST songs in the history of rock music. obviously this is motorhead's signature song (even moreso than "motorhead" the song) and to me this is the quintessence of their style/attitude
metropolis - love this song. the lyrics don't make sense but it's a great moody slower jam.
sweet revenge - another slower song. this is my favorite song on bomber. this is honestly a dark and unforgiving tune.
others: fast and loose, capricorn, i'll be your sister, etc etc etc

Can't let this thread drop to the second page...
MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister has accepted an invitation by Tory Welsh assembly member William Graham to address the assembly on drug abuse. The 59-year-old singer will give his talk on Thursday (Nov. 3) — before a gig in Cardiff.
"Frankly, young people are more likely to listen to him," Graham told the BBC News.
Graham was prompted to contact Lemmy by his researcher after a recent Channel 4 documentary on the band, "Live Fast Die Old", where he spoke about his hatred of heroin.
It is also the subject of his song "Dead Men Tell No Tales", and in an interview on MOTÖRHEAD's web site, he said heroin had killed "a lot of my generation," adding, "It's the only drug I hate."
The AM said he was keen to publicise the anti-drugs campaign and it was more likely to reach its target audience via a rock star "however many committees we have and however much money we spend".
Graham told the BBC News that while Lemmy had "a reputation for pushing the boundaries of experience in all aspects of life," he had shown in the documentary why he believed could not only "erase your artistic potential, it can erase your life."
He added: "It is a powerful message, delivered with all the understanding gained from the unique lifestyle Lemmy has pursued. It is a view of life that deserves wider consideration".
The AM, who chairs the school funding committee, admitted his knowledge of MOTÖRHEAD was limited to their biggest hit, "Ace of Spades". But he said with MOTÖRHEAD's reputation of "play hard, work hard and enjoy life to the full," Lemmy's words would be able to reach music fans directly, "with maximum impact guaranteed".
Graham's researcher, Paul Williams, has his own connection to Lemmy.
In the 1970s he wrote lyrics for a Welsh rock band, TOUCH, who once supported Lemmy's former band, HAWKWIND.
Williams approached MOTÖRHEAD, and Lemmy agreed to take part when the band were in Cardiff.
They will play at Cardiff University on Thursday night, a few hours after Lemmy's appearance at the assembly.
"Lemmy is taking it incredibly seriously, and his manager says he's writing a speech," said Williams.
