I started a new class last night, Survey of the Theatre. We had to go around the room and give the usual how are we and why are we taking this class. Well most everyone, including myself, said they were there because we needed a Lit elective and this class fit the schedule. Well this one guy says, "I'm taking this class to impress a girl." That was his only reason. Classic

haha i wonder if acknowledging that fact to the girl if taking the class would fail to impress her

Man, mixed feelings on that one. If he's just taking the class so he can share a major interest with the girl in hopes of getting laid, that's some pretty extreme devotion to the cause. If he's taking it in hopes of acquiring a new girlfriend, it sucks that he's willing to change his interests just to make himself more appealing. That's kind of like pretending to be somebody that you aren't, and should he manage to find himself in a relationship he'll be miserable showing interest in something that didn't interest him much in the first place.
It could be that he's secretly been fond of theater, but never had the opportunity or time to devote himself to it, and this girl is now a good reason for him to start. Then again, most guys that are into theater are usually only interested in impressing other guys.
But it all boils down to this...Uncle Meat is taking a theater class!
