Sigh - Desolation demo
Dates back to 1990. I love Sigh's new style, but they were still pretty amazing as a strictly black metal outfit. For every black metal band that calls their style "grim", I'd like to give them a copy of the song "Desolation Of My Mind". You make something that depressingly creepy, and you can call yourself "grim". Otherwise, get back to playing Dungeons & Dragons in your mom's basement!

At first listen, I thought it kicked ass. After a couple listens, it just sounds like I've heard it all before from Amon. Don't get me wrong, some songs like Cry of the Black Birds, Valhall Awaits Me, Asator, and my alltime Amon Amarth favorite Gods of War Arise, are all good to very good, but the rest and even segments of the selected songs just don't have it. I don't know what it is, I can't pinpoint it, but for some reason I just want to skip half the album worth of tracks when I just bought it 2 days ago.
I'd gladly take A Matter of Life and Death over this any day of the week. 2 months later I still love it.

I just picked up four Destruction albums for a fiver!
Mad Butcher and Eternal Devastation on one CD and Sentence of Death and Infernal Overkill on another, so quite annoying having four albums on two CD's but well worth it for the money. Not a lot going on on Sentence of Death but the rest is really technical thrash well rooted in the Bay Area vein. On the other hand think Venom but heavier.
Also picked up Tooth and Nail by Dokken but KITF dosn't seem to be a place for the old hair metal so I'll keep that one to my self!

Horatio has a soft spot for stuff like that. It's amazing some of the stuff he listens to. That Destruction score is a good one.
