I took one sip of it. Some kid wanted me to hold it while he went in the pit.

that would have been classic dude. he probably would have thought it was funny too, heh. can't wait to see your pics dude! the audio only caught the first 4 songs, then on the 5th the tape gets all screwed up and stuff.. it was cool to hear the new songs recorded though. Hopefully we'll get a copy of the video too.

I just don't see the point of spending money on a t-shirt when I can buy two CD's instead. I don't listen to music as a fashion statement. If I had all the money in the world I would buy t-shirts...but I don't. So I prioritize. What do I want to do with my cash? Spend money on some music I'll enjoy or spend it on something that serves no other purpose than to promote myself as somebody who likes said band?
For me it's a no-brainer.

if you like a band, buying their merch is supporting that band. such a concept is what makes music a "community". i mean, why buy cd's when you can download shit from the internet? if no one bought anything, the scene wouldnt be where it is today...
and scoots, how are you so lucky to never have to be a "normal" member of society? teach me your ways, si fu!

If I'm going to advertise something on a shirt, I'd much rather have it be a band I like than some gay clothes company. And by the way, two of the three of us were wearing Dropdead shirts at this show, haha. I should get one so I can be "cool"(and because they're a good band).

derek: i'm already married, have no ambition, etc
also i agree with wht you are saying regarding helping bands out by buying their merch, though truth be told probably half my shirts are bootlegs or "questionable" in origin. also probably 75% of the shirts i have were given to me by the band or came out of some kind of a trade so they didn't cost me anything. the shirts i actually buy are never more than $10.
gotta wear SOMETHING. i'd rather wear a $10 bootleg destruction t shirt than a $10 old navy t shirt.
ps nice choice on the dropdead shirt saturday

Which would also include buying their CD's or seeing them live when I have the chance.
Wearing a band shirt doesn't make me anything except a guy who likes said band. It takes all kinds with a common interest to make a community, but one where I'm forced into an unwritten dress code is not my kind of crowd.
I wear clothes for function, not promotion.
If I was faced with a $10 Destruction shirt vs. a $10 Old Navy t-shirt, then I would go with the Destruction t-shirt every time. However it's very rare that I run into these opportunities. I can order band t-shirts on-line, but we're talking bigger money than $10.
I would rather buy a package of cheap Haynes t-shirts and have more money to spend on music. Argue all you want, but it comes down to this...I don't care if I ever spend another dollar on clothing ever again. If what I currently own will last me until the end of my life, I'm fine with that. I would MUCH rather spend $10 on music than a t-shirt. Actually, I have a bunch of different hobbies which I dedicate money to. Wearing clothes is not one of them.
Listening to music: Worth my time and money Wearing a Motorhead t-shirt so people on the street know what type of music I like and what kind of crowd I could possibly fit into: Not worth my time and money.
