All I have to say is, how in the hell did I miss this one?
The future of Burnt By The Sun is in doubt as frontman Mike Olender and drummer Dave Witte have now left the group. Remaining members Teddy Patterson and John Adubato may or may not continue under the same name. Here's what Mike Olender told Lambgoat about the split earlier today:
"The decision was amicable and there are no ill feelings between any of us. This core line-up was really exciting, satisfying, and rewarding for me to take part in and I'm honored to have shared the last 4 years with Dave, Ted, and John. We wrote music that we loved and tried to convey a message that made people think."
Yes, Dave did leave and then Mike, right after our little California tour. Everything is cool, I mean we all had a great time!
I would like to thank all of our friends in Japan, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. for all the support. I would especially like to thank anyone who ever came to a show, bought a shirt, or drank a beer with us.
I had an amazing 4+ years with these guys and some really great adventures, and would like to thank everyone involved with BBTS, Thanks guys!
More to come as I think of it
Then there's this.
So, it looks like there are rumors all over the place.....
we DO have a new drummer, he is awesome, we start in October playing with him.
In November, we will be doing the DEP thing and posting some mp3's on the web site for you to download and put YOUR vocals to. We are looking for a Jersey person, maybe a wet sider! If you want a shot, go for it!
Although we are looking for someone LIKE Mike, we will be looking for someone who can move BBTS forward also, so be yourself!
I would do this just for fun, even though I don't fit the requirements they're looking for(I'm not from New Jersey).
They did mention something else about being unsure about keeping the same name. All I can say is please, I hope they change it. It's just not Burnt By The Sun anymore, no matter how much how try and make it. I bet this new band will kick ass though.
