Massachusetts-based metal/grind band THE RED CHORD will enter Planet Z studios in Hadley, MA on January 6 with producer Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL) to begin recording their sophomore full-length album, "Clients". The follow-up to 2002's "Fused Together in Revolving Doors" (Robotic Empire) will be recorded over a three-week period and is scheduled for release in May via Metal Blade/Black Market Activities Records. The 11-track effort "will be more brutal and in your face than the last album," the band write in a statement.
In other news, THE RED CHORD guitarist Mike McKenzie (a.k.a. Gunface) has recorded a guest appearance on the new album from Japan's SIGH, entitled "Gallow Gallery".
"I was very honored to contribute a couple of guitar solos to the album, as SIGH has been an influence on my writing for a while now," Mike said. "I also contribute backing vocals on the new EP of Massachusetts-based metal band NORSETH. NORSETH plays an excellent blend of Swedish-influenced death metal and traditional metal. Thanks to both bands for the opportunity to be a part of some exceptional music."
The new NORSETH EP is called "The Hexed Enigma", and is available now. More information is available at this location.
Not only is Mike in one of the best bands still active, but he's also gotten the opportunity to contribute guitars for the new Sigh album. That's one hell of an honor.

backstabbers inc vocalist just quit the band As much as I love the band, he's going to be the easiest member to replace. Founding member and a great lyricist, but his actual voice can be replaced. I'm sure one of the guitarists can fill in until they find somebody new. Any idea why he quit?

"Here at the Backstabbers Inc. camp, all is not well, and in true BSI tradition we have hit another major bump in the road. After a number of small personal crises, our vocalist, Ryan McKenney, has withdrawn his commitment to the this tour. While we are hopeful that this rift is a mendable one, we do not know what lies ahead for us. The remaining members remain fully committed to completing this tour, and guitarists Brian and Matt Serven are taking over vocal duties until something else can be worked out. There are also rumors regarding this being the end of BSI, but until this tour has been completed, we can not say. We are doing our best to overcome this obstacle and take this band, and tour, as it stands and one day at a time. Also, we would like to note that Ryan, as a friend, frontman and lyricist is irreplaceable. He was a founding member of this band, and has been a driving force behind us all. We will do everything we can to respect him and his contribution to this band as we continue, and finish what we started. Thank you all."

Backstabbers has been doing their tour without Ryan, but apparently he's going to be doing his last show with them in Boston on the 31st. Too bad for me it's a Monday night...
Also, theredchord.com is blocked by my school filter. How gay.

I'm listening to some of the new Red Chord right now. In all honesty, it's only OK. Fused... was so much better.

Hey, this is the thread where we were talking about Backstabbers Inc's vocalist quitting, right?
Apparently they're planning a US tour for the summer...looks like they decided to continue anyway.
God I hope Ryan rejoins the band.
