I received an E-Mail from a guy named Eric, and instead of giving him my personal thoughts , I E-Mailed him a link to the board so he can get everybody's thoughts. So here it is...
Hey guys
I was wondering since Maiden has so many live albums, I wasn't sure which one was the best one. I want to pick up one of their live albums, but I'm not sure which. You guys know a shit load about Maiden, so when the thought occured, asking you guys was the first thing to come to my mind. Rock In Rio maybe? Although that came right after Brave New World, which certainly isn't their best album. ive At Donington? To be honest, I'm just getting into Maiden and don't know them as well as I know others bands.
Also, as a side note, what do you guys think about Godsmack. They are so unoriginal and the definition for mainstream metal, but yet so many people go apeshit over their music. They do have some guitar solos, which is good, but some of their songs blur into each other, and it becomes difficult to define one song from another. Just listen to"Awake" and "Re-Align" and you'll see where I'm getting at. The introductions are virtually the exact same thing.
Finally, I don't know about you, but bands like Linkin Park are an utter disgrace to metal music. When Hybrid Theory came out, my naive mind went crazy over it, claiming it to be some of the best music around. I look back, and some songs were good, while others I hang my head in shame recollecting me jamming in my boxers, air guitaring to the delirious dreams of me rocking out on stage,in my room when no one was home. Then came Reanimation, and I was skeptical, but thought that maybe for once some band tries to do something different then just put out studio records and live albums. Meteora was another hit for me. Then came Live In Texas. This was when I started to get pissed. Out of 4 albums, 2 had been filler. When Collision Course came out, I was so fucking pissed. I have since lost all respect for them, and come to realize that they are even more sold out than my all time favorite
Metallica. Their music when you think about it, is shit, along with the band members. No one around here agrees with me, since no one actually puts thought into their music. I just wanted to see if I am really not seeing something, or if the world around me is missing something.
Thanks again, and sorry for sending you a novel long e-mail :-)
