THE HIDDEN HAND, the band featuring hard rock guitar legend Scott "Wino" Weinrich (ST. VITUS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVAN), have parted ways with drummer Dave Hennesey.
"The PENTAGRAM show was Dave's last show," Wino writes on the group's web site. "This was voluntary, amicable, and expected.
"We love Dave, and he will be missed, but being in two bands, and having to travel long distances to practice, and hold down a full-time job was too much. We all agreed it was for the best, and the next night we auditioned, and confirmed his replacement, Evan Tanner. Evan came out with a good command of four or five songs, and we took it from there.
"I think one could expect a pretty seamless transition.
"I foresee a furious blast soon to come, with the emphasis, once again, on the new, and the uncharted.
"Our next show will be a free show, pretty much in our backyard (Gaithersburg, MD) on February 12, and a NYC show with OM on March 26 at the Knitting Factory."
Yeah, not very exciting news especially considering I have no idea who this Evan guy is...but it's The Hidden Hand. I love these guys!

Whoa. I didn't hear that. Is he alright? If he's going to be out for a while, I wonder if they'll bring in the vocalist for Internal Void...

"wow... what a scene!!! I took the bus 4 hours to DC to see the pentagram last night... and Bobby basically almost 'moved on' to the beyond on stage! It looked like something seriously wrong was going on with him- he had to be helped to the side of the stage and after a while when the band was about to start playing he CRAWLED onto stage. He stood up for a second, then fell over and collapsed into the fetal position by the drums..... before they could start first song he had to be carried off. Then the paramedics/ambulance came and took him away.
But for some positive notes, the HIDDEN HAND were pretty jamming, WINO is just a ruler on guitar and I watched as much of their set as I could from the front, but I've been kinda sidk so I had to go sit down to get some energy for the 'Gram.
Also, I really applaud the INTERNAL VOID guys for their efforts to try and get a "new" pentagram together and make this happen, I felt really bad for them. Kelly seems like a really nice guy who has done his best to make this work, and he's great on the axe too. Despite what was going on, they still played some of the songs instrumentally and sounded GREAT! They played a bunch of the set with different singers (Sherman Tank, Skull, Joe Hasselvander) taking turns at the mic, but with the exception of Joe singing "20 buck spin" it seemed really strange watching a bunch of guys playing those songs. really surreal.
There were a LOT of people there, many of us had travelled a LONG ways to see the show. Poor Bobby just seems to have really taken it to the edge this time, and it's not looking good. It was great to see a lot of old friends and Joe Hasselvander was there- he's one of the coolest MF'ers EVER in the history of metal....
I feel so lucky that I was around to see the "TRUE" pentagram in the early 90's around when the classic 4 line up reformed and "Be Forewarned" came out, I wish they'd had so much buzz and following back then.
Oh well, what are you gonna do. But I will say this, to those in London- you better say your doom prayers, because it's gonna take a miracle..."
someone on another board posted this:
"so bobby got out of the hospital yesterday. today the band had a meeting to iron shit out and continue making plans to go to london next month for three shows. if ex-pentagram drummer joe hasselvander hadnt called the paramedics he would have died backstage, but after 30 yeras of addiction o.d.ing isnt new to mr. liebling. They had to shoot him with an adrenaline shot and something else to reverse the effects of the horse. So I guess the drama onstage was more from withdrawl than an o.d.. Regardless seeing him fall down and convulse on stage like that for those 10 seconds was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen."

Damn. That's a lot of good info, Scoots. I didn't realize the singer had been doing hard shit for the past 30 years. Makes me wonder how he currently compares to Lemmy who, from what I've gathered, primarily just sticks to bourbon and blow these days.
