AMEN bassist Nate Manor was arrested for petty theft last Wednesday (March 16) after allegedly being caught on video tape stealing porn magazines from a supermarket in Los Angeles.
AMEN drummer Joe Letz, who was with Manor at the time of the alleged incident and his subsequent arrest, has posted the following account on the band's official message board:
"Today we were getting kicked out of this little food store that we frequent when we are hungry. We always go in there and eat the candy out of the bins. I always have malted milk balls while John prefers the bridge mix.
"Anyway, the store owner finally caught onto us, being that we have been doing this every other day for about three weeks. He starts yelling and begins escorting us towards the door, in a rather rude manner.
"This is where it gets violent…
"Nate's car broke down today for the last time, so we broke all the windows and set it on fire and ditched real quick. Let's just say that he is on a short fuse, and he takes a swing at the guy. The guy hits the floor in seconds and we take off. A block away we get taken down by the pigs, AT GUN POINT...
"This is where it gets fuckin hilarious…
"We all get searched, the pigs find brass knuckles on John, nothing on me, a knife on Jinxx, and four PORNO MAGAZINES shoved down Nate's pants... All of us, cops and band included, are dumbfounded. So the cops phone the store who called the cops on us and it turns out that they have Nate on camera stealing porn while we were eating the candy.
"Nate goes to jail…
"I had to bring come cymbals to guitar center to sell them and get $300 to bail him out.
"The four magazines were... one that had to do with women over 50, one that had to do with goth chicks, one called 'Fattie Fisters' and Playgirl (which, for those of you who don't know, is full of naked men).
"I am working on getting his mug shots so that everyone can see them... He says that he was smiling when they took them.
"As for the weird magazines, he CLAIMS that they were for AMEN artwork.... let's not ever let him live this one down.... EVER!!!!!"
