Two bands have dropped off next year's Maryland Death Fest, scheduled to take place May 27th and 28th 2006 at The Sonar in Baltimore, MD. Those bands are FISTFUCK and FRIGHTMARE. The following explanation has been posted on the Maryland Death Fest website:
"A band member in FISTFUCK had a personal matter come up and won't be able to travel to the US next May. It is not the bands fault, nor is it ours. The band has stated they will play shows in the US as soon as it is possible again.
Also, although FRIGHTMARE was the first band we confirmed for MDF IV, they have canceled. Now they don't want to make their appearance exclusive to MDF and that's the only explanation we can provide you. As frustrating as this for us, that's all we're going to say. "
The following five bands have been added, in addition to replacing FRIGHTMARE and FISTFUCK:
CLITEATER (Netherlands) ROMPEPROP (Netherlands) BURNT BY THE SUN (New Jersey) MUCUPURULENT (Germany) EMBALMER (Ohio)
They join the following list of previously confirmed bands:
DEMILICH (Finland) NECROPHAGIST (Germany) MACHETAZO (Spain) BUTCHER ABC (Japan) SANITY'S DAWN (Germany) GORGASM (Illinois) MUNICIPAL WASTE (Virginia) YACOEPSAE (Germany) ENGORGED (Oregon) CENOTAPH (Turkey) BENEATH THE MASSACRE (Canada) ELECTRO QUARTERSTAFF (Canada) TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION (Pennsylvania)
Sucks Frightmare dropped out. Them along with Machetazo and Gorgasm are the only really good bands playing this year. However, adding Rompeprop, Mucupurulent, and Embalmer is HUGE!
Did I mention that I'm psyched Embalmer is back together? I pray to god they release some new material...or at least re-release their Into The Oven demo.

Why the hell are Burnt By The Sun and Municipal Waste playing a death fest?
Looks pretty good though.

I may not be the biggest fan of death type stuff, but if I lived in Maryland, I would definetely go to this. There's a few bands on there I know and like and a bunch of others I'd be willing to give a shot.

I think the only bands on that list that I'm not the least bit interested in are Sanity's Dawn and Beneath The Massacre. There are some okay bands, some good bands, and some jaw-droppingly awesome bands playing at this thing. It would be cool to hit the fest kind of like a vacation and check out an Oriole's game. If anything to heckle Sammy Sosa.
It would be worth the price of admission just for Rompeprop alone.

Agreed. In English, their name means "Hacking", but hacks they are not.

Hey, as far as seeing Rompeprop too, I have to wonder how those vocal effects would sound live, haha. I bet they kick ass live.

Man, the more I think about this the more it seems like it would be awesome to go. I was telling one of my friends about it(who will be back from college by the time this happens) and for some reason he wants to go too.
Hell, why not try for it? Road trips are good and music made for the sole purpose of being retarded tickles my fancy.

It wouldn't even really be that big of a road trip for you. I'm guessing maybe four hours?

Really? That's not bad actually. I guess it's all about avoiding NYC traffic(which I actually have an idea of how to do by the way).

Gorgasm is actually quite a good live act. I caught their show a few times back when I lived in Chicago, and it was well worth the ticket price.
