The new RAMBO LP I purchased the other day came with a DVD... i was skeptical of that concept at first, but after watching it I felt inspired. It's split up into 3 sections. The first being their european tour. Now, they don't play the live sets in this section, but moreso just document their journeys and what they did other than playing. Very cool stuff, but this section was kind of slow paced. It was more of a spoken documentary, with visuals playing that were semi-unrelated. Then, there is a live set section with live songs from all over the world. Everywhere they go, kids singing along, all different environments, skin colors, age groups. Sweet. Then the last one (my favorite section) is their austrailian/southwest asian tour. Holy shit. Again, this is more of a documentary of their journey, than it is a music video. They played in a jungle village in (i believe) indonesia. Not only were they received well musically, but they also got to experience the culture fully. They visited temples, went swimming in hot springs, and got to see some seriously remote locations that most people would have to pay for tour guides to get to. It's just amazing to me that people could experience this stuff basically free of charge, doing something you love. Especially when that "something you love" is being in an anarchist hardcore band.

i haven't seen this dvd but they were running the "rambo tour diary" in maximum rock n roll last year when they were in se asia, it looked/sounded pretty righteous.
i've never heard this band.

i would suggest picking up "wall of death the system" if you ever get interested. the newest one that i just picked up is less in your face, and more kinda.. melodic in a way? their image is what really sets them aside from others though. they're from philly, and a lot of their songs are about local politics, and corruption. activism and taking a stand. they are straightedge, but not "in your face" or militant by any means. they love bikes. at their shows, its not uncommon to see the crowd make weapons out of cardboard ahead of time, and have a battle royal while they play. its chaos in all its beauty. definitely worth checking out.

Food for thought:
On the Now We Are 20 version of Swordfish by the Dead Milkmen(from Philly), Rodney says "And some of you are gay straight edge anarchists with the earring in one ear, the T-shirt with the big A, and the X on your hand."
Rambo are straight edge anarchists from Philly.
Limp Wrist are gay straight edgers who I believe are also from Philly.
When will someone complete the trifecta?

You know what's weird? Nobody in California has heard of the Dead Milkmen. Last time I was in New Jersey, I ordered a cup of tea at a coffee shop, and dropped as an aside, "The waitress said "no; we only have it iced," and like nine people knew the next line. There's no chance of that happening in California. I once tried "Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick; everybody knows a burrow owl lives in a hole in the ground," and the only guy that got it was a guy from Pittsburgh.
The scene is just invisible here.

That's odd. The Dead Milkmen have never even played a live show in New Hampshire, and I think practically everybody knows who they are.
