i own my own house, 4 cars, and have no debt. why shouldn't i spend money on what i like? also, from a purely financial standpoint it's probably a better investment than the stock market (check sold prices on popsike.com, it's been going for 150-200 range).

Spending 100 dollars on a record...to me that would just be like taking a nice chunk out of my paycheck and blowing it on lottery tickets...just physically taking dollar bills out of your pocket, dropping them on the ground, and setting them on fire...watching them burn...
I'd pay decent money for a record if I REALLY wanted it, but I don't think I could ever go even close to the triple digit mark.

Also, speaking of people in hardcore bands dying, I heard one of the guys in World Burns to Death got stabbed, almost died, and now has a huge medical bill.
