Being that Shevy raves about the metal scene in Italy and the only band I know and listen to from there are Cripple Bastards(who are fantastic), my curiosity has risen. I remember hearing the names Balatonizer and Natron. What are some other bands from there and what do they sound like?

I dont have any suggestions.. I know of only Disarmonia Mundi that are italian and somewhat decent... but you might not like them.
Two bands to stay clear of : Rhapsody and Thy Majestie. Symphonic power metal shit that sucks.

The first italian metal band that comes to mind, and one that I've been listening to a lot recently, is Novembre - very doomish. (Newest album is a lot more laid back though - something that's always been a part of their music, just not as big a part as what it is on Materia.)
My guess is it wouldn't be your thing, and probably isn't what Shevy was raving about.

Well, Italy doesn't have much of a grind scene, but before checking out anything else I would highly recommend "Gory Blister". High tech death metal. Some of the best around.
