Basically, the point of the thread is this. We all go through our music listening in phases. Sometimes we like one band, sometimes we like another band. We shift between genres and styles and whatnot. So since the year 2007 began, try to remember what bands you've really been digging a lot and make some picks as to what ten bands you'd say have been most prominent in your listening pleasures. Maybe even offer a brief description if you're up to it. Obviously this is Kicked in the Face where nobody has the same taste in music so our picks are all going to be extremely different but it's fun for a laugh I guess.
Scapegoat(Boston powerviolence band, Crossed Out worship, has a 7" out on Painkiller that owns)
DS-13(Swedish hardcore punk band, has some releases out on various labels, including a great split 7" with Code 13, broke up maybe six years ago or so)
Trap Them(A new band with the ex-vocalist and one of the guitarists of Backstabbers Inc., sounds a lot like them, are releasing/have released stuff on Trash Art)
Repulsion(crowned as one of the key bands for the development of grindcore, was the first band to start using the blast beat in extreme metal/punk music besides D.R.I. I think, blah blah blah this probably shouldn't need much explanation)
Econochrist(wrote some of the grooviest bass riffs I've ever heard in punk music, not the fastest band ever but their melody is powerful enough to make it okay)
Knucklescraper(Has a 7" called Max Isn't The Bastard. Spazz worship. Go fucking figure.)
Fetus Eaters(retard grind to the max, has a 7" and a split full length with Sanity's Dawn, funny song titles include "Seth is Gay", "You Call Your Pets Babies Because You Can't Have Kids", and "I Put Jelly On The Windowsill to Keep Ants Away From My Dirty Dishes". Speaking of which...)
Sanity's Dawn(Shevy tells me a lot of what this band's written sounds like early Nasum. The only Nasum material I'm really familar with is Human 2.0 and it doesn't sound the same to me, but maybe that's not early. These guys were intense as fuck when they played live, the German bellowing vocals give their sound a pretty distinct edge, I think)
XbrainiaX(It should be pretty obvious what this band sounds like if I mention they have a 7" with 31 songs on it)
Funeral Shock(nitty gritty drug and angst fueled punk rock, has the same bassist as Capitalist Casualties but the two bands sound nothing like each other)
Obviously this list sucks because I didn't think of Weekend Nachos until I was done making it.
