I've been a Sox fan all my life, but I think I'm about to throw in the towel this time with the current ownership. This Theo Epstein bullshit is pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back. For the first time in the history of the organization, they've been in the playoff's three years in a row. For the first time since 1918 they won a World Series last year. And they let the archetect that put it all together walk, not for money, but because Lucky Luccino has to flex his authoritative muscles with every opportunity.
I am pretty sick of all this comercialization shit going on with the new owners. Red Sox Nation Membership Cards? Selling sod from the World Series? Most expensive seats in all of baseball? They don't even do giveaway nights like every other team in baseball but have no problems charging you $6 for a glorified Dixie Cup of Sam Adams.
I'm sick of the bullshit that surrounds this team.

I listened to his press conference yesterday. I still have no idea what the hell happened in his contract negotiations, but to me it sounds like the Sox are going to be taking some steps which Theo is morally against. Things which he cannot stand behind.
Kind of makes sense, I suppose. Especially looking at some of the off-season talk going around. Manny for Glaus and Erstad? Is that a joke? Passing on a 4-year $30 deal on Damon? Not resigning Mueller or Graffanino? Competiting in the AJ Burnett sweepstakes? Possibly dealing Nixon and Arroyo? Putting Youkilis, Hanley Ramerez, and Shoppach on the chopping block?
God help the Sox.

On the news ticker this morning they mentioned it might have something to do with John Henry. Who is John Henry?

The (main) owner. Most likely it does have a lot to do with John Henry. During his press conference yesterday, he told the everybody to blame him.
My theory is this...Theo Epstein is the kind of guy that wants to build for the future. He said that he wants Boston to be a scouting and development machine. Now that we've had a World Series trophy come to town, Theo is probably leaning towards the way teams like Atlanta and Cleveland play ball. Basically, bad for two to three years while they undergo some major development changes, but then after that they're a juggernaut for years to come.
This mentality is fine for a suffering team that can stand to loose the money, but the new Sox owners simply can't. They paid a lot of money for this team which is why there's so much commercialization with nothing but solid baseball on the field in return. Meat & potatoes. They can't afford to restructure this team for 10 years down the road. They can only afford to continue winning 93 games a season and keeping interest (and revenue) strong.
Theo didn't agree, so he's off. I think it sucks, but what can you do. So long as Depodesta doesn't come here, I suppose I can deal with it. We'll see what this off-season brings. So far, this severe instabiility can't be looking too good among potential free agents.
