Awesome that MLB is taking steps to help make baseball more accessable not only in the states, but also around the world. I also appreciate how they take the big four baseball countries...U.S., Japan, Puerto Rico, and the Domincan Republic...and place them into individual "pools".
Overall, I'm hoping the thoughts of Gary Sheffield are in the minority and that the players really get behind this idea. The MLB players would be getting paid peanuts compared to their normal salaries, so World Baseball is really going to attract the players that play for the love of the game.
If done correctly, I would look forward to World Baseball more than the MLB Season itself.
