Burton strkies again! Great all around:from the sets to the acting. Depp is off-the-wall as Wonka(its great how they go into his background a little.) The Oompa Loompa songs were a little weird. Christopher Lee has a great cameo.
Thumbs up!

I heard it's a lot closer to the book than the original, too.

I was under the impression that Charlie was the kid who took over for Willy. I thought Depp was playing Charlie and that the film was based on another timeline. I thought that would be a cool twist and was disappointed to find it was just a remake. I read that Marilyn Manson badly wanted the role, and that Depp modeled his performance after him. Fucking weird.

Well, I was certainly against it when I first heard about it, but then I heard that Depp would be Wonka and Burton would be directing. Haven't seen it yet, but I have hope.
Also keep in mind that it's not necessarily a remake of the original, but another adaptation of the book.

I was under the impression that Charlie was the kid who took over for Willy. I thought Depp was playing Charlie and that the film was based on another timeline. The book is called Charlie and the Chocalate Factory, like the new movie, and there's a book that takes place right after that about Charlie taking over the factory, but I never read it. Don't know about this movie though. I grew out of Roald Dahl when I was a little kid, so chances are I'll think this movie is gay. Tim Burton has made nothing but crap lately.
