Some guy here at work is taking $10 bets that Jets will beat the Pats straight up. This just doesn't make sense.
Uncle Meat & War...in all your infinite wisdom, can you think of a single reason not to take this bet?
Jets = home field advantage Pats = hottest team in football and playing for home field advantage in the playoffs

Take the bet and smile. Although I have a feeling that it will be close. The Pats might only win by 1-3 pts.
Oh there is no space inbetween my name.

Yeah, it's only a 3 point spread. Funny thing about the Pats, though. They can beat all the teams with the winning records, but the one's with the losing records always play them tough. The Houston game went into overtime, and their two loses were at the hands of Buffalo and Washington.
He's not taking any more bets because everybody jumped on that ship. It got me thinking, though, so I looked up some quick stats...
Tom Brady is 23-4 if he is playing after November 1st. Tom Brady has never lost at the Meadowlands. The Patriots are 12-2 if the weather gets below 35. The Patriots are undefeated in the snow. The Patriots are averaging 30.3 points on the road. The Jets have Curtin Martin, but the Patriots have the 3rd highest ranked defense against the run. The Jets have Moss Santana and Chad Pennington, but the Patriots' secondary has picked off 22 already this year. The Patriots will get a first week bye if they win, and Indianapolis loses or ties.
Unless this turns into a total trap game, the Pats are going to slaughter the Jets.

Well it wasn't a slaughter. I didn't realize that they played last night. They won 21-16. Close, but I think they are gong to the super bowl

Work had it's Christmas party last night so I didn't get a chance to see the game. From what little I saw, the Pats offense looked fucking horrible. The Jets were playing some solid defense...but not THAT good.
San Fran vs. Philly is on right now. I'm routing for Philly, but SF is looking very impressive.

SF won by three in o/t. I still can't believe that KC got spanked by the Vickings . Indy lost so Miami is out(Jenn will be pissed over that one)

Yeah, that sucks San Fran pulled that one off. So long as the Eagles spank those fucking Rams, though.
KC lost some serious steam, too. They're definitely not the same defensive team they were at the beginning of the year. Funny how if you compare the Chiefs of the past five years to the Chiefs of this year, it almost seems strange saying, "They ONLY scored 20". They're an offensive juggernaut. The Vicky's aren't terrible for an NFC team, either.
As for Denver over Indy...it's no secret my second favorite AFC team behind the Pats is the Colts, however I was routing for the Broncs all the way since if the Colts lost, the Pats secure home field advantage. I haven't routed for the Broncs since...they played Green Bay in the Super Bowl.
Talking about Green Bay...Favre's father just died, and it's not known whether he will start tonight or not. Regardless of whether he does, how do you think they'll match up against Oakland?
What a heartbreaker for the Saints, too. I have a soft spot for New Orleans, and Carney is a damn good kicker. Took me completely off guard he choked on that extra point.
