Finally got Opeth's Deliverance and Lamb of God's As the palace burns.
Great stuff from Opeth, and I like how Devin Townsend had a hand in Lamb of God's album. SYL all the way wooo!

Not a big LoG fan, but Opeth is some quality goods.

I got the Dropdead--Live in Hiroshima 3" cd in the mail last night. Not too exciting, but I'd been wanting it... *shrug*
Also picked up some 7"s by Great Whyte Lyin' Snake and Suckface (early 90s Providence bands featuring Dropdead members).

Anyone familiar with Brainbombs? Imagine Funhouse-era Stooges sung by a creepy-sounding Frenchman (actually they're Swedish, but the guy SOUNDS French), and all the songs are about hyper-violent sex and murder. It's definitely a low-fi affair, but the production is appropriate considering the sound and subject matter. I recently picked up their Urge to Kill cd and it's great stuff. Coupla downloads here if you wanna check 'em out: www.loadrecords.com/bands/brainbombs.htmlAss Fucking Murder is brilliant.

I was thinking of "Mindbomb", who are absolute shit. Brainbombs I've never heard. Anybody who names something "Ass Fucking Murder" is worth at least a couple chances in my book.
Thanks for the link!

I've been buying a shitload of music lately (probably very little of which would interest most of you here), but I did just get Dropdead--Live in Germany '98 from a trade with a dude in Belgium. There were only 500 copies of this record pressed and they were only sold on thier 2003 tour of Europe, so they are pretty hard to come by (I hang out with DD's drummer all the time and even HE couldn't get me a copy). Needless to say, I'm pretty happy to have it.
I also got the Darkness album on vinyl. Musically it's nothing special, reminds me of Def Leppard. But I have to say I have an abnormal love of that guy's voice. The songs are pretty fuckin catchy too. It's definitely a guilty pleasure, but what the hell.

I got a boatload of stuff from Relapse about a couple months ago or so, and haven't bought a single CD since. Me = doofus.

I picked up the Khanate "No Joy" remix on red wax this weekend. I was in a horrible mood so it was really the perfect soundtrack. Goddamn if that is not the most bleak, depressing music I've ever heard. Black metal has nothing on these guys.

On the contrary I dont think black metal is supposed to be depressing or bleak. More like apocalyptic and offensive.
Got me alot of new Cd's Soilwork: Steelbatch suicide; decent speed thrash/death metal. Figure Number 5; alot of people have bashed the band for doing the In Flames route but I think this album was done more in good taste. I dont think it can be categorized still as extreme but it a well rounded heavy metal album which I enjoyed alot.
The Crown: Deathrace king; because of the site's review
Nile : split CD Festival of Attonment and Ramses Bringer of War; Old stuff from Nile, a must if your a fan of them I guess.
Plus Im planning to try out Decapitation: The Negation, Therion, Mastodon, Cryptopsy and maybe some Deicide and Sirenia.
For Black Im gonna buy some Dark FUneral and Satyricon

All depends on the type of black metal. The original raw shit and the folk hybrids generally aren't depressing, but a lot of that keyboard goth-fueled horseshit makes me want to put a gun in my mouth.
How are you liking that Crown disc, man?
Just got the new one by Obscene Eulogy. Canadian black metal with Mikka Luttinen on vocals. Fucking incredible. As soon as I finish up my Dead Milkmen reviews as tribute to the death of Dave Blood, I'll review the new Obscene Eulogy. Absolutely amazing.
