I'm torn on this decision. When they were known as Crown Of Thorns, I considered it mediocre death metal at best. Then they became The Crown and adapted a death & roll edge, ultimately releasing the classic "Deathrace King". Two albums later and plenty of internal problems, The Crown hasn't been able to hold a candle up to Deathrace King, which is probably the best damn D&R album to date.
Instead of running their career into the ground as people eagerly await the next "Total Satan", "Rebel Angel", and "DeathExplosion", I think they did the right thing. At least they're known in the community individually, and whatever it is they decide to persue will definitely draw some attention.
I was just listening to Possessed 13 on the way to work today. Good album. Much better than Crowned In Terror, but still not as good as Hell Is Here and (obviously) Deathrace King.
The Crown will be missed, but career-wise, they did the right thing.
