David Vincent + Morbid Angel...

Bassist/vocalist David Vincent will be rejoining MORBID ANGEL for their rescheduled tour of South America following the departure — for the second, and apparently final, time — of the group's most recent frontman Steve Tucker. "MORBID ANGEL and World Management would like to thank Steve Tucker for his contribution on several MORBID ANGEL records as well as multiple great tours," reads a posting on the group's web site. "We all wish him well and are sure he will succeed in his new endeavors."

Tucker had the following to say regarding his decision to leave the group:

"After many problems and much discussion with the people around me, the people I trust, I have decided it is necessary for me to step away from MORBID ANGEL. It has been a long trip with a lot of great shows and I have made many friends along the way. The MORBID ANGEL fans that not only accepted me, but reveled in my being a part of the band, have been the greatest thing about my time in MORBID ANGEL, they are the reason I came back to the band.

"There are many reasons for me leaving the band, personal reasons, musical reasons and very logical reasons. All of which will stay between me and the band. MORBID ANGEL existed many years before I came along and will for many more I am sure.

"I have enjoyed playing with some great musicians and touring with some great bands and meeting some incredible people all over the world. To all these people I say 'Thank You' and we will meet again.

"I am not done with the music business by any means, I will now be moving into other areas of the business, things I have always enjoyed, but didn't have time for. I will be moving into much more recording, production and management, so any bands interested in working with me, feel free to contact me at [e-mail] .

"Again, thank you to all of the fans for 8 years of making my hour and a half of stage time so brilliant!!!"

Sure would like to see this line-up, however it's only going to be in South America. Maybe a bootleg will surface or something...

Here's a follow-up from Steve Tucker, which as with everything else that comes out of his mouth, is completely retarded...

In a brand-new interview with the Metal1.info webzine, former MORBID ANGEL bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker spoke about his reasons for leaving the group and his future plans. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

On his decision to leave MORBID ANGEL:

Steve Tucker: "I didn't feel that I wanted to be a part of MORBID ANGEL any longer. There were some issues I had with people's commitment and desire. I play from the heart and could never do anything that wasn't 100% real to me. So I felt it was time to go do something else."

On the announcement that David Vincent was rejoining MORBID ANGEL for their South American tour:

Steve Tucker: "I think it was bound to happen really, I think it is what MORBID ANGEL should do, a reunion!! I think it would be the best thing for the MORBID ANGEL legacy. But I am sure they will do whatever they feel is best, though it may not actually be so. [Guitarist] Trey [Azagthoth] has a very twisted sense of reality."

On David Vincent as a human being:

Steve Tucker: "I have no personal problems with David, we have met many times and he has always been very cool to me, his wife Gen as well, the two of them have never had anything but good things to say to me. And me to them as well. As far as his political views, that is his business. I truly wonder how much of that is gimmick, check the facts, he is very image oriented. That is not an insult; it is just based on facts."

On who the new MORBID ANGEL singer will be:

Steve Tucker: "Man, I have no idea what they are going to do. That is the truth."

On whether there is a singer he would like to see join MORBID ANGEL:

Steve Tucker: "Like I said, I think they should do a reunion tour. I don't know about another cd, I think David and MORBID are worlds from each other musically at this point. But maybe after some touring that will change."

On how long he expects MORBID ANGEL to keep going:

Steve Tucker: "I don't know. I know there are reasons for them to stop and reasons for them to continue. They are not young guys at all, but then again, I think there is no one in the world to match [drummer] Pete [Sandoval]. So I think that is up to them and their desire."

Nobody can touch Pete Sandoval on drums? Ha ha ha! I'd say Mr. Tucker has been working too hard...
