i bet!
also, one of the new songs that buddy added some really rudimentary vocals to (like two sentences worth).... i think it sounds better as an instrumental

yeah, thats not complete... he was just doing that to see how it'd sound. i guess he kinda wants to redo all the vox anyway, which i have no objection to...

Why don't you just have one of those all instrumental bands. Aren't they easier to manage or something?

Because Buddy's vocals kick ass.

I haven't been at home much the last few days, but Brian said he was gonna do a remix. Any word on this, scoots?

yeah, he brought the cd by on friday night. i think this mix sounds REALLY good. we were debating whether or not the vocals needed just a slight tweak but overall it sounds really excellent.

i asked bri straight out if he thought the vocals needed to be redone and he said "NO", he just wants to maybe juice them up a little in the mix.

This is by far the worst I've ever heard Buddy's voice sound.

Well, if I can add something positive, the drum mix sounds really good anyway. It's a little muddy. That 17 song demo sounded a lot better if you want my honest opinion. I know you guys have been working hard on this so I felt kind of bad about the first post and didn't want to slam you...but then again, maybe we just have different opinions on what a good mix sounds like.

the mix is definitely better than the first one by far! if i had to chose buddy redoing vocals or not, i would definitely lean toward redoing them. its weird that the bass seems so strong in the first 2 tracks, and then so quiet in the last... as if john changed volume or something.

i just posted random songs, some takes might sound better. i think buddy's voice sounds great in these. i like this mix a lot.

i'm really surprised you guys weren't more into these songs. i think they sound great. i'd suggest burning the songs to cd and playing them through a real stereo, at low volume they do not have the same presence that they will in the final product. to these ears, all the instruments come through equally and the tonal quality of the bass particularly but also the guitars and vocals sound really excellent. are you having issues with the recording/mixing or the actual performance? here's a couple more: www.culturevoid.com/mp3/plastic_studio.mp3www.culturevoid.com/mp3/parents_studio.mp3

holy crap scoots, you're right. its a totally different recording when you listen to it at a decent volume. i mean, i defintely thought the mix was good already, but up loud it really does sound more balanced, and buddy's vocals dont stand out as much, which makes them sound soooo much better. i think its sweeeeeeeet!!!

It sounds balanced loud yeah, but I think it's still kind of muddy.
The performance on Just Like Golf was great though, good stuff.

The more i listen, the more I like. Even buddy's voice.
Dan said he'd like more toms, but we both agreed it wasnt worth a whole new mix. this one is fuckin sweet.
btw, upcoming shows:
JAN: 21st (the barn, middletown) 22nd (as220)
FEB: 26th (new london)
and i think one more that i'm forgetting maybe? who knows...

keep in mind it sounds a little different on different speakers/systems. the toms sound a bit soft in my car (which has a pretty nice sound system a bit on the bassy side), but perfect on my home system. i like this a lot too, been playing the shit out of it.
