Lamp: yeah, that show is supposed to happen with LB. There are a horde of other bands I've never heard of playing too. I think LB is "headlining" at like 10pm. See them or die trying. I have no idea who these other bands are, I just saw on Lightning Bolt's site that they would be playing. It made no mention of any other bands. Is there a thread on Lots of Noise that has any information? If so, I'll check it out. We mainly want to see Lightning Bolt, but we're going to get there earlier than they start, just to try and get up front.

If you're a fan of dirty convenience stores, dirty gas stations, and dirty bars, then Worcester is the place for you! I'm convinced that if America had an asshole, it would be located in Worcester, Mass.

Lamp, the only info I've seen on that show was a full page ad in the latest issue of the Providence Phoenix. There are at least 10 or 12 other bands apparently, names I've never even HEARD before which isn't really a good thing I'm thinking, since that's the kind of stuff that I'm, you know, interested in and make it a point to be up on.
Advice: get up front asap. Crowds MOB LB like no one's business. Personally I think it is more comfortable to hang back about 15 feet, but you won't actually "see" the Brians at all.

As a matter of fact... I am going to a concert tomorrow (sunday 12, 2004), have tickets for Unearth/Terror/Black Dahlia. Was going to get tickets for... Lamb of God/Fear Factory. Gwar/Dying Featus, Cannibal Corpse/Napalm Death. Slayer/killswitch/mastadon. and many more. I'll talk to Jeremy at the Palladium when I see Unearth and see what I can russle up in terms of free rides. Shit, he's served me enough Jack and I"ve tipped him well. I was thinking of getting a job at the Palladium because I go so fucking much. Shit, he even suggested it. Then I can work next to the offsetting twin towers (one of which is in the Boston Beatdown DVD I bought. heheh go FSU...) Wouldn't that be fun... a KITF reunion at Gwar... tempting and I have never seen them so regardless, I'm probably going anyway,.

I saw Lightning Bolt, Made in Mexico, White Mice, and some shitty Japanese girl band on Friday night at an undisclosed warehouse location in Olneyville. Life affirming!

I'm about 95% sure I'm going to that GWAR/Dying Fetus show.
Lamp and Uncle Meat, are you game?

Okay. The only way I wouldn't be going is if the Red Sox were playing for some odd reason or if I had to drive down there alone. Other than that, I'm game.

I'm still not entirely sure though.
Hey Scoots, did you go to the Lightning Bolt show last night? It kicked severe amounts of ass. I have to say that was also the first time I saw Mahi Mahi and they were cool too.

Nah, Lamp I saw them Friday so I opted out last night.... work at 6:30 am etc, you know. If I didn't go to the show Friday I definitely would've made the effort though, they are incredible live. Friday was amazing. I'm not really a fan of Mahi Mahi though so no worries about missing them...

Well, there were two guys videotaping, and random picture taking was going on, so that would be cool if I ended up in something.
Also, one of the bands I saw there was a band called Sibling Rivalry. It was hilarious because they were so drunk they could barely stand. They were swaggering all around during their show...the singer/guitarist actually almost backed himself off the stage at one point(and it was a pretty high up stage with a cement floor). Their sound was kind of forgettable(basic garage rock) but I sure had fun watching it.

It's o.k. Shev. We can go together if you wish. Then you don't have to drive alone. But I refuse to hold your hand. and I ahve to be drinking. Those are my rules. and I only drink at the Palladium because it is so close to the centrum (which I dispise).

Well, I can live with those rules...but only because we are the world's greatest golf tag team.

Oh, hey, yeah, sorry. I haven't been around. I'm up in Northern California. Redding is the biggest town up from Sacramento and we seem to get bands touring from the bay area to Oregon stopping through here, so it's nice. Toys That Kill and Berzerk are doing a Recess Records showcase with some band called Rivethead through here the next couple of days. One's a free show out at the Civic center outside stage, and the other's a house show again down in Redbluff. Fun!
A Providence band I saw out here that I thought were really good were the Midnight Creeps. Unfortunately Jenny's stepdad got ill and they had to cancel their last tour.
Have a great time!

Hey OneEye, yeah, the Midnight Creeps are pretty good. They tour a lot so they don't play Prov as often as a lot of the other locals. Some pics my girl took when they played with Forward (Japan) and Straight to Hell (Prov): imghost.eatshirt.com/scoots/creeps3.jpg[/img]

I've seen them a couple times around here. I wasn't too thrilled the first time, but the second time I found myself much more impressed. They put on a good show. They'll be huge someday.

Hey, thanks for posting the photos, those are really cool. I knew nothing about this band and took a chance on 'em last December when they played at a little skate shop that isn't even in business anymore around the corner from my house. I dug it. So, Toys That Kill and Berzerk played in my town. A couple of west coast bands that I really think you guys back east should check out. I saw them last summer at a house in a little town south of here and have been hooked since. The Berzerk kids have been stopping by quite a bit and they are a real kick to see live. Really nice kids too. Their CD's don't stand out quite as much as I would like, but they are high energy live. Quirky punk youngsters who for some reason have adopted a strikingly metal sound with screaming female vocals. I love Joanne like the little sister I never had or my adopted daughter or something. Toys That Kill are just incredible. Formerly a snotty, harsh band called F.Y.P., they changed their name to the name of their last album as F.Y.P. And seem to have evolved very nicely. Since I'm too lazy to write more than one review, I guess I'll stick to reading them. I want to, I'm just not sure how to describe music all the time. I just read a handfull of the reviews over at recessrecords.com, The guitarist's record label, and couldn't agree more with the ones I read. These guys have almost a '70's influence in their songwriting. The Control The Sun release is powerful, strange, diverse, simple, and catchy all at the same time. They gave me their The Citizen Abortion CD the other night, and I'm loving it. Mostly really cool, catchy tunes that make you want to hit the repeat button, with a few that drone on strangely that, annoying at first, grow on you. I'm not sure what these guys are doing, but they just have such a unique sound blending together out of their amps, apart from the actual songwriting that is truly a rare find. I would highly recommend either of these if you are looking for something a little different, a little mellower, but still amazingly cool to add to your collection. The show was outdoors, free, and up on this upper road, ramp, upper level entrance type area in front of the city's convention center. The kids discovered a power source up there so we have free shows there instead of over at one of the parks where the city shut the power off. With nothing but a shop light hanging on the bass amp behind the drumset and the dim interior lighting of the building, it was real dark, but still great. To have these guys play in my little redneck town instead of somewhere miles away is really a treat. I managed to catch part of American Waste's set when I showed up, and they were cool enough to hang out a little. I loaned one of them that Venomous Concept CD I finally got which is beyond description to me and has pretty much made me give up trying to write album reviews. Toys That Kill, although slated to headline, played next. A disappointingly short set, but after talking a bit I discovered that they were kind of worried about getting shut down out in the public area of the city before it got too late and wanted to make sure that Berzerk got to play their set, which I thought was a very cool gesture. The Berzerk kids had actually stopped by where I work last spring when we were closing and I'd been trying to get them back ever since. I have a pretty cool job where I drive a boat on a huge lake and drive a bus on the edges of cliffs on the side of this mountain to take people up to a cavern tour. They told TTK and they all came out the next day. We comped 'em all and it was really fucking cool to have two of my favorite bands as guests up there at the cave. They're going to send me a picture, Dave, I'll have to send it in and have you post it for me. What a fucking blast.
