Think heavy metal started with KORN? Confused about why people smash into each other at a concert? Know who originally spawned the sign of Satan? Well ask yourselves these questions no more. Fuse TV's "Uranium" is bringing you all of the answers to the questions you're too afraid to ask. Miss Juliya, along with guest lecturers including GOD FORBID, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, DARKEST HOUR, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and more, school you on all things metal — from throwing down in the pit to the penalties for misusing the horns to how to tell the difference between death metal and pirate-core. Get ready to throw spitballs during the premiere on Friday, September 9 at 9:00 p.m. EST on Fuse.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! This is going to be complete shit.

ps SLB *is* heavier than the who, though the who was louder (big rockstars have better equipment). listen to SLB's first album, there's one hippie dud song, the rest is wild shredding guitars and wild screaming vocals. what does the who have to do with metal anyway.

I'll take the first Iron Maiden album over 99.99% of music in general.

I'll take the first Iron Maiden album over 99.99% of music in general. I'd even take Seventh Son of a Seventh Son over their debut. I've tried to get into Iron Maiden and Killers, I really have, but I just never really have been able to. The Dickinson material is where the gold is for me.

The first two maiden albums are the shits. The ones after that are "eh" (well there just slightly above average) to me, anyway.

HORATIO'S KNOWLEDGE OF METAL IS MORE WELL ROUNDED. YOU PROBABLY DON'T CONSIDER BANDS LIKE MONTROSE AS MEANING ANYTHING TO METAL. THEY MADE SHIT LIKE SIR LORD BALTIMORE OBSOLETE OVERNIGHT. YOU PROBABLY DON'T CONSIDER MOTLEY CRUE, VAN HALEN OR RATT METAL. YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF AOR OR MELODIC ROCK. YOU'RE A ONE TRICK PONY MATE. DOOM, THRASH, THAT'S NOT WHAT METAL IS ALL ABOUT. OBSCURE DOESN'T MEAN BETTER. LISTEN TO WHOS NEXT, THEN BANG AND TELL ME WHOS HEAVIER IN 71. PRETTY OBVIOUS ISN'T IT. BUT I HAVE NO EARS FOR METAL OR MUSIC SO I'M WRONG. JUST FOR THE RECORD, COULD YOU WRITE A REVIEW OF THE MICHAEL STANLEY BAND'S 'NORTH COAST' THEN THE NEW EXODUS ALBUM IN AN HOUR? I FUCKING DOUBT IT.

i fail to see your point horatio. "just for the record" my record collection contains dozens of albums by van halen, motley crue, ratt, the who, and other aor/hard rock bands. i'm well acquainted with bands like montrose, gamma, sweet, ufo, etc. i don't automatically equate "heavier" with "better." it doesn't change the fact that the who were not particularly heavy (or good) in my opinion. "dazed and confused" is heavier than anything the who ever recorded and i would still balk at calling zep "metal."

it doesn't change the fact that the who were not particularly heavy (or good) in my opinion. this might just be the most ludicrous thing ive ever read. simply staggering that a person could be a reviewer of rock/metal and conjure up such an outlandish line. far be it for me to pontificate about who was the first metal band or whatever the fuk this thread is about but i dont believe anyone with a true knowledge of hard rock and metal would fail to recognise the intrinsic importance of the who in the overall progression of rock and metal in the late 60's and early 70's. its common knowledge that the who were a totally different animal to the studio recordings they produced. and it is in this domain that all bands from blue cheer through to deep purple and black sabbath were influenced. any who bootleg will tell you the story. ive got about 80 of them and if you ever want to check them out you can contact me on soulseek user name MUSCLE and i wil recomend certain tracks for you to download. maybe after hearing them you can re evaluate your position and reach a common sense conclusion based on fact and not apparent prejudice.
