Lamp, where exactly is "Gilroy's basement"? We may be playing this show as well, if they need/want another band to play. I sent the guy an email and he gave me an address, I'll PM it to you. By the way, I've never been to the Green Room but that place looks like a piece of shit if I ever saw one.

Okay, it's time to talk about how much the basement show rocked last night.
First off, I was glad that this place was close to my house. And it was easy to find too. I have a friend who lives down this way, so I knew exactly where I was. The place was filled with nice people, it was like a barbecue of epic proportions(without the grill), people playing basketball outside, people just generally socializing everywhere, it was nice.
The first band was Third Death. The other people there proved to me that it is actually possible to mosh to 30 second songs and that it's possible to find room to mosh in such a small space. This was pretty big by basement standards, but it was still just a basement. Everyone was pretty cramped. The band played great, Buddy had a lot of energy as he was running around towards the front of the crowd, and I recognized a good deal of what was being played. I tried to get a few pictures...there was a half decent one in there, but the rest of them came out crappy. The lighting was weird in the sense that whether the flash was on or off, the pictures came out dark. So I just gave up and moshed most of the time because that was a lot more fun anyway.
The next "band" was something called My Tire Is Flat and So Is My Heart. This "band" was basically a guitarist and bassist feeding back excessively and five or six guys in masks screaming, pushing each other, and jumping into the crowd. This went on for about five minutes and the moshing was at its craziest of the night. I hit my head on someone else's, but that's to be expected when one of the masked men charges into you. Never in my life had I been so confused at a show. They said it was their last show too so...*shrugs*
Next up was Hogg. I had a vague idea of what this band sounded like before seeing them, so I knew it would be a good set. There were only three guys in this band, no bass player. The first thing I noticed was that the drummer had a broken cymbal and the broken part was facing the crowd, so I'm thinking "stay away from that area". But that issue didn't even come up. The moshing wasn't as consistent as Third Death's set, but this was also a longer set with longer songs. Everybody moved around and I was trying to get a break between moving and not moving. The sound ruled and so did the band, so I bought a shirt. 8 bucks, good deal.
Then the last of this show was Mahi Mahi. This was the third time I'd seen this band before. The last time I saw them was at the April Fool's Day show and with the way it was set up, I only really saw the drummer so it was a good change to be standing within two feet of the keyboard player. It was HOT down there. We were all jammed in, everyone was moving around, so then a lot of people were taking their shirts off, myself included. I bet you would have too, I felt like I was in a sauna. I thought the set ended at least five times. This was the best I'd seen them and after we were done melting, I bought a shirt from these guys as well.
After all the bands played, I did a little mulling around, me and a couple of my friends went into the room was Gilroy was, he had his computer downstairs and recorded Hogg and Mahi Mahi. The drummers from both bands were up there listening, and it was a good recording. I also heard something about trying to book Lightning Bolt to play that basement over the summer...I REALLY hope that comes to fruition. Especially since we all decided not to go to the Redrum afterwards. If this show happened on a Saturday night, I'd be more than willing, but it was Friday, we all had school earlier that day, we were tired as fuck. But it was a great night.

Yeah, the show last night was fun. We had a blast playing our first show in months, and the overall atmosphere was pretty positive, with the exception of that group of Nazis that showed up. Thankfully, their visit was short lived. They've got a good thing going there, and the kids will be lucky if it stays that way!
Oh, and I got to see a free strip show by one of the neighboring females. That shit was HOTTTTTTTT!

Afterwards I went to the beach with my friends and met other people there and saw these fat chicks in their underwear jump in the water. Then I saw this guy's cold water shriveled penis.
That never happened.
Edit: Oh by the way, I'm not sure what you were talking about with the nazis, but I remember this one kid with a pink shirt who was acting like a jackass during Hogg's set. What was his deal? He looked like he was trying to do a spin kick but didn't have enough room.

Check it out: AS220 20th anniversary festFree all day show including the likes of Lightning Bolt, Mahi Mahi, and Tiny Hawks. It's got food, but it'll probably be vegan food. Oh well, sounds pretty kick ass anyway. LB is supposed to be doing a mini-tour of the northeast in July. Some of my friends and I were talking about following it. That idea probably won't come to fruition, but it's still awesome to think about.

That was an awesome time, Scoots. You and your wife are very hospitable, and have a nice place The only thing that sucked, was that I left there with buddy's flu, or whatever he had and I've been sick for 3 days now, hah.

There's also a Lightning Bolt mini-tour in July that spans five days and has an order of shows that goes Boston, Providence, Philly, and two New York shows. Sounds ultimately badass. Especially since that same weekend as the show I mentioned earlier is apparently the New England Doom/Grind Festival.
