Uhhh, just found this on the internet. I was not aware of this show, but apparently we're on it? Funny how that works...

I'm not quite sure who's fault it was. I showed buddy and he says "Oh yeah, I was supposed to tell her we couldn't play that because jon is going away" heh.... too bad.

Went to the Bleeding Through. Misery Index, Zao, darkest Hour, Fight Paris concert at the Palladium. The important thing was that it was 15 bucks and Bleeding Through was great. Everyone else can suck my balls.

I would have had you pegged for a Zao fan, Skinny. Their newer stuff is kinda drab, but their earlier material is pretty fine.

Just got back from the White Mice/Coughs show. Great stuff. I have no idea who the openers were. The first act was some drum/bass/violin band, kind of lame, were obviously just jamming. The second was some guy with some thing making weird noises. Eh. The third band was pretty good. They actually had songs. Then the Coughs played. These guys surprised me with how good they were. It sounded like African tribal music meets a screeching car. Two drummers banging on some broken ass cymbals and random drums, there were even pots and pans, no bass drums. A guitarist with four strings. A bassist with a Peavey. A saxophone player with an extremely unclear gender. The vocalist kicked ass too, she could really screech with the best of them. The White Mice then went on and delivered some feedback that's still making my ears ring. They were loud...VERY loud. I wish I could have seen the bass player better...seeing him loom over the microphone is awesome. But I was standing within a foot of the guy behind the oscillator and it was all good. Show ended around 2...pretty late. Didn't miss a second of it either, started around 11.

Well, Rose Royce just played for free at the boardwalk. I expected it to suck, but it didn't. The bass player was amazing. The guy was shaped like a 300 pund bowling pin, bald as Mr. Clean, and had the energy of ten gorillas. He was nonstop jumping around, dancing, playing funk and slap bass, and humping the bass the whole time. He was way bigger than life.
But as usual, the star of the show was Mo Mullet, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's official summer concert sign language interpreter. I swear he knew the songs better than the band, and he was totally more into them than the singer. To a fault, almost.
Also, I was drinking whiskey out of a Gatorade bottle. So, in short, the show rocked, and Rose Royce is about much more than "Car Wash."
Yeah, I wish I had a real show to go to too.

If earwax buildup is related to incoming noise like it seems to be, then the White Mice show last night would explain everything. I pulled some kind of record with how much came out the right ear.
By the way, I had a suspicion that one of the bands was Made In Mexico and I turned out to be right...

Fucking no good shows close to here right now. I wish some more of the bands you are familiar with back east would come out. Daughters played here in my town a couple of years ago, but I missed them.

Daughters is local to me and I still haven't seen them. They played a month ago, but I missed that unfortunately.
For the second night in a row, my ears are ringing. After work, I went up to Providence and caught the end of the AS220 fest, saw Lightning Bolt and Mahi Mahi(again). This makes the third time I've seen LB and the fifth I've seen Mahi Mahi. Lightning Bolt played mostly new stuff, but they did play Dracula Mountain. One of my friends made the big score...he gave Brian Chippendale the mask he wore for Halloween and Chippendale drew him some stuff on a shirt. Very, very cool.

Maybe that's what you get for having a rap band.

Hey slodki, where were you dancing?
I was sort of going back and forth between talking to random people and being on the left side of the stage(judging by where I was facing).

I waited until after I got in my friend's car to take my shirt off. I did see that guy, and a couple of my friends had no shirts. Mine was absolutely drenched in sweat from LB's set. The whole sleeves, the entire front side...it weighed quite a bit. Yeah, between stuff like that and not having much food in the last few days, I feel real trim lately. I have no idea what you look like though. If I did and I saw you, I would have said something. By the way, are you going to Fancy Fest at all?

If it's at a show, it's not. Especially a Mahi Mahi show. I am aware of how stupid dancing looks, so I try to make it as stupid looking as possible.

I met this cool chick from Dave's guestbook before it became what it currently is at a few shows. Her old man was completely wasted. Unfortunately she slipped on all of the chips that got spilled on the floor and broke her ribs. I usually run into this kid that I've been seeing at GWAR related shows for 4 years. Those DBX shows were the best.
